Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Instructor to join our team. This position is ideal for an instructor who enjoys working with students over time, values structure with creative flexibility, and is committed to music education.

Responsibilities

  • Teach private and small group lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels

  • Develop engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans

  • Track student progress and provide constructive feedback

  • Maintain a positive, organized, and encouraging learning environment

  • Prepare students for recitals or performances

  • Communicate professionally with staff and families

  • Collaborate with other instructors to support studio programs

Curriculum & Teaching Approach

Instructors may use BlackBox Music & Arts’ curriculum or their own teaching materials, provided instruction includes appropriate structure, clearly defined skill benchmarks, and measurable student progress. All instruction should align with studio standards and support consistent learning outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of drumming experience

  • Prior teaching experience (especially with children)

  • Strong understanding of rhythm, technique, and basic music theory

  • Effective classroom and behavior management skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Passion for music education

  • Ability to pass a background check

  • Reliable transportation and ability to commute to San Antonio, TX 78253

Schedule

  • Part-time

  • Consistent weekly schedule

  • Afternoon and evening availability preferred

Drama / Theatre Arts Instructor + Administrative Assistant (Hybrid)

We’re looking for a theatre arts teacher with an administrative mind—someone who loves working with kids, is fun, energetic, and ready to grow with us. This is a hybrid role: teaching and helping keep the studio running smoothly.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • A theatre/acting teacher first, with a knack for organization

  • Extroverted, enthusiastic, and loves having fun with students

  • Comfortable learning our calendar, class, and invoice systems (you won’t be doing invoicing—the system does that. You’ll just be making sure everything is accurate and running smoothly)

  • Able to organize receipts, documents, and other studio essentials

  • Planning to stick around and grow with us, not just a short-term gig

  • Trustworthy and dependable

Teaching & Studio Responsibilities

  • Teach acting/theatre classes and help with other classes, camps, recitals, and other events

  • Support instructors and families, ensuring classes run smoothly

  • Organize studio documents and help maintain accurate class and scheduling info

  • Pitch in wherever needed in the studio—social media, events, and general support

Qualifications:

  • Theatre or acting experience with children and teens

  • Fun, outgoing, and flexible

  • Organized and detail-oriented

  • Comfortable learning scheduling and management software

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Pass an annual background check
